Learn how to make ink and dyes from foraged plants, garden produce and recycled food scraps. There will be a special emphasis on responsible foraging and respect for the natural world. This class will also cover history, ancient traditions, methods, and recipes of long ago. The basic process of extracting pigment will be taught so that students can continue to experiment at home. Another focus will be mindful documentation of color experimentation. In addition to creating inks and dyes, we will create beautiful art with ink and dye functional fibers and fabric. All supplies are provided, but botanical contributions are always appreciated.
