Students will learn the fundamentals of making a painting, beginning with color theory, color mixing and elements of design. They will also learn proper care and usage of painting tools and both acrylic and watercolor paints. Each class meeting will start with a short lesson and an opportunity to look at painting examples before transitioning into a work period. Students will create a color wheel with colors they have mixed themselves, several smaller paintings and one large painting on canvas. In addition to teaching technical painting skills, this class will explore the lives and work of many famous and lesser known painters. All supplies provided.
